We have arrived in June.
By arrived, I mean that we have catapulted, arms and legs pinwheeling, and slammed face first into this lush celebratory month. Graduations, birthdays – and blueberries.
The weather could not be more perfect. Just the right amount of sun has been followed by just the right amount of rain. We have moved from pruning to mowing. And mowing. And mowing.
Everything is gorgeous. Everything is green. Everything is growing.
I think a lot about growth these days. Growth of plants, growth of people. Jeff and I laugh every day about how we landed here, face first, in these fields of blueberries. How much we are learning in a ridiculously short time. How much we are stretching ourselves in the pursuit of this new adventure.
And like a plant that grows very fast, sometimes we are overwhelmed and falling over because it’s a lot. Managing our kids, careers, home and a new business. Sometimes we need some propping up. The number of people who have offered up information, resources and encouragement have truly kept us on our feet. People with answers are around every blind corner. We are grateful.
And now it is almost time to meet everyone – the hundreds of longtime Berry Good Farm fans who we haven’t met yet. I’ve been spending time designing new signs for around the farm but I’m not going to overdo it. I know that people know how things work around here.
So here we are in June. Everything is growing. We are mowing.
